At the Press Conference of the 122nd session of China Import and Export Fair on Oct.14, Mr. Xu Bing, spokesperson of the Canton Fair, Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre, has introduced Canton Fair’s measures to support the foreign trade development of impoverished regions in China.

Xu Bing introduced that in order to implement the strategies of poverty alleviation by the central government and further support the impoverished regions by commerce, we, at the 122nd Canton Fair, will adopt the following measures to support the foreign trade development of impoverished regions in China. Firstly, cancel booth fee for exhibitors from poverty-stricken regions. We’ve cancelled booth fee for exhibitors from 839 poverty-stricken counties and 537 exhibitors from Quannan County, Jiangxi Province (to which Ministry of Commerce provides assistance). Altogether 887 booths enjoyed this policy. Secondly, set up Traditional Chinese Specialties section. We will set up the Traditional Chinese Specialties section in Phase 3 and cancel their booth fee. There are altogether 197 booths, showing clothes, cases and bags, food and other topics in Phase 3.

The Ministry of Commerce decided that from the 122nd session in 2017 to the 128th session in 2020, the Canton Fair will cancel booth fee for exhibitors from impoverished regions and set up Traditional Chinese Specialties section for free.

Xu Bing introduced that, according to the requirements of local governments and companies, the Canton Fair will arrange booths to exhibitors that make great contributions to the economy of impoverished regions. Canton Fair will promote this special section to buyers, and facilitate transaction made by new exhibitors. In this way, Canton Fair will fully play its role to boost the foreign trade and economic development of impoverished regions, and make our due contributions to lifting the impoverished regions out of poverty on time according the overall plan of the central government.
